March 6: Letter from University of Montevallo President John W. Stewart III
The University of Montevallo continues to monitor the Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID19), factor its impact on our campus community, and provide updated information as warranted. This particular notice applies specifically to all University (non-student) personnel. Please be advised of the following:
University-sponsored international travel to destinations identified as Level 2 or Level 3 with active community transmission of COVID-19 is prohibited until further notice.
Other university-sponsored international travel, regardless of destination, must receive special prior approval from the President before scheduling such travel.
The University cautions all personnel to monitor information from the U.S. Department of State link to state department travel advisory when making travel plans, internationally and within the United States.
All University employees who have reasonable cause to believe they have been exposed to the Coronavirus are instructed to discuss their circumstances with their division head before coming to campus. Subsequently, division heads are to consult with Human Resources to develop an appropriate plan of action based on current and developing conditions.
The University’s primary concern is always to protect the health and well-being of the UM family. Accordingly, the decisions made during this unprecedented time are designed to prevent unnecessary exposure to our students, faculty, and staff, thus mitigating the continued spread of this infectious disease.
I offer my genuine appreciation to everyone who has been working to keep our campus safe from this threat. Here’s to a healthful and productive balance to the spring semester.
