February 23, 2022: Updated COVID-19 Protocols

Dear students, faculty and staff,

Thank you for your patience and persistence in following COVID-19 guidelines and for your commitment to keeping our campus community safe and healthy since the onset of the pandemic.

With COVID-19 case numbers declining and the availability of effective vaccines and treatments, the University of Montevallo will no longer require face masks in most spaces on campus beginning Friday, Feb. 25.

Masks will only be required under the following circumstances:

  • In medical areas
  • When preparing or serving food to the public
  • In areas that serve children younger than 5
  • In areas where it is required by law or another governing/accrediting body

Campus-provided isolation space and COVID-19 case management will also be phased out over the remainder of the spring semester. Until that time, students should continue to report positive COVID-19 cases at www.montevallo.edu/reportcovid and employees should continue to follow the protocol from HR for reporting positive cases.

Those at heightened risk — especially those who are unvaccinated — are strongly advised to get vaccinated, boosted, continue to wear masks and continue to limit their interactions with others.

All members of the campus community are encouraged to continue practicing personal responsibility to keep themselves and fellow Falcons safe.

Campus administration will continue to monitor COVID-19 and CDC guidance, as they do with any other infectious disease. The COVID-19 Task Force will continue to meet as needed and will be ready to take action to mitigate future outbreaks as they arise. Any necessary updates will be posted on the Falcon Forward 2021 webpage and/or communicated via UM email.
