I can’t log on to Canvas, why?

If you are a new UM student you will not have access to Canvas until two weeks prior to the start of the semester and will only be able to interact starting the first day of classes. For future terms, you will be able to log on Canvas but will not have access to the courses until two weeks before start of the new term.

Why isn’t my course showing up on Canvas?

By default, the start date is set to the first day of classes. If you do not see your course, first verify that your instructor has opened the course to students (i.e. published the course). If your instructor indicates the course is published, check your Courses List using the instructions on the Canvas page.

I dropped a course, why can I still see it in Canvas?

It may take up to 24-hour before drops are processed in Canvas.

The semester is over and my course is still appearing, why?

By default, the end date for courses in Canvas is two weeks after finals. They will continue to appear until that time. If it is past the two weeks, please email the Solution Center, solutioncenter@montevallo.edu.

How do I change my notifications?

In Global Navigation, click the Account link, then click the Notifications link. Each notification is set to a default preference. To change a notification for a contact method, locate the notification and click the icon for your preferred delivery type.

How do I to add/remove a course on my dashboard?

In Global Navigation, click the Courses link, then click the All Courses link. To favorite a course, click the star next to a course. Courses with filled stars show the course is a favorite.
