Message from 2014 College Night Committee

Attention Thursday night College Night ticket holders:

Members of the College Night committee have been working diligently since Thursday afternoon’s weather cancellation to find a way to allow those holding tickets for the Thursday-evening performances an opportunity to see the Golds and Purples compete on stage. With the assistance of and a shout out to UM’s Mass Communication department and a Mass Communication alumnus and his employees, the committee has found a way to jump through the technical hoops required and is pleased to announce that the Saturday evening performances will be available for viewing on campus via closed-circuit broadcasting, as well as via live streaming, nationwide, on YouTube, pending the necessary network and technology functioning at the time of the broadcast.

On-campus broadcast locations will include LeBaron Recital Hall, the Merchants and Planters Bank Auditorium in Humanities Hall, and Farmer Hall. Thursday-night ticket holders will be given first preference for seating in LeBaron Recital Hall and in the Merchants and Planters Bank Auditorium. Farmer Hall, with its open seating, will be used as an overflow space.

Doors will open in LeBaron Recital Hall and the Merchants and Planters Bank Auditorium at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday-night ticket holders will be admitted first until 6:45 p.m., at which time general admission seating will begin. Farmer Hall will also open at 6:30 p.m. and will be general admission.

For those who are unable to make it to campus Saturday, the productions will be available for viewing online, free of charge, at www.youtube.com/montevalloforyou. Visit the link and click on the event video to watch. The screen will be dark, or have a basic background, until live coverage begins. Coverage will begin with the SGA president and cheerleading at approximately 7 p.m., with the first production set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Several individuals have inquired about refunds for Thursday night tickets. Refunds will be issued to Thursday night ticket holders only. You may e-mail Kathy Adams to receive a blank refund form by e-mail at weesek@montevallo.eduPlease fill out the form and return it, along with your Thursday night ticket, to the address on the form, regardless of where you made your purchase. Please make sure to return the form by Feb. 21, 2014.

If you prefer to return your form and ticket in person, you may do so at the Cashier’s Office in Palmer Hall or at the Alumni Office in Reynolds Hall. The Cashier’s Office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Alumni Office will be open Saturday, February 8, 2014, from 8 a.m. to noon, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Once tickets are verified that they were purchased, you will receive an e-mail to the address listed on the form. Refunds will be processed by February 28, 2014, based on the forms and Thursday night tickets that are received by the deadline and verified.

If you come to the broadcast Saturday night and receive priority seating, the short part of your ticket will be torn off. Please make sure to keep the long portion, as this is the part that will be needed to send in with your form in order to receive a refund.

Thank you for your patience. The technical issues involved in setting up this broadcast have not been small and have taken longer than we had hoped, but we wanted to be sure things were up and running before making this announcement.
