Are modern day women happy? Have the expectations of
women as wife and mother faded away? Is society still dominated by men? In
her Pulitzer Prize winning play, Wendy Wasserstein asks these as well as
other important questions. This timeless play still mirrors the trials many
of us experience as we try to answer the questions: What do we do with our
lives? And where are we going?

When a young African-American man shows up at the
New York apartment of well-do-do-couple, he immediately wins them over with
his charm and the claim of being Sidney Poitieršs son. As their
involvement with him takes unexpected twists and turns, they begin to
question not only his identity but their own. This Pulitzer Prize nominated
play illuminates the threads of chance which link one person to another.
