Fall 2012 Theatre Season Audition Requirements

Fall 2012 UM Theatre Department Auditions

We are casting 2 Fall semester productions : THE HEIDI CHRONICLES and RENT.  Please present a 60 second monologue for both shows.  If you are a theatre major, this should be memorized. If you are NOT a theatre major, memorization is optional and we will have monologues available at the audition. Again, this is only an option for non-theatre majors—thanks! Students from any major on campus are welcome to audition!

Please sign up in the Stairwell of Reynolds Hall for a monologue appointment on either 8/28 or 8/29.

If you are auditioning for the musical RENT, you must also sign up for a vocal audition appointment in the Stairwell of Reynolds on 8/29  (scroll down below for additional information on vocal audition requirements).  You must also attend the dance audition on Thursday, August 30 at 7:30 pm with our guest choreographer Carl Dean (please wear clothing and shoes that allows you to move).

Contact David Callaghan at callaghand@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6210 about general audition questions and RENT; and Tammy Killian at killiant@montevallo.edu  with any specific questions about THE HEIDI CHRONICLES.

RENT—Vocal Audition and Callback Information

If you are interested in working on music for your vocal audition for Jonathan Larson’s RENT, our fall musical, see this additional information below.

Required Vocal audition: Sing a song or cut of your choosing no longer than two minutes.  It can be from RENT, another musical, or a pop/rock song NOT from a musical. If you sing from RENT, please bring your own, marked music.

We prefer that you provide music for our accompanist and Music Director, Laurie Middaugh, but will allow you to sing a Capella at this audition. Anyone called back will have to sing from the score.
