Pam Lucas is the Office Manager for the Department
of Theatre where she has worked since 1994. She began her career at the
university in 1990 in Housing and Residence Life. Pam was the first recipient of
the UM Office of Support Personnel Award for Excellence in 1995. She was born
and raised in Montevallo where she lives with her husband Jeff Lucas. Pam has
one daughter, UM Alum Adrian Lucas, and a beautiful grandson, Carter. Pam enjoys
taking courses at the university and in her spare time, collecting copper,
browsing flea markets, and fishing.
Laurie Middaugh
is
the Staff Accompanist for UM Theatre and our Resident Musical Director.
She received her M.M. in Music from UM and her D.M.A. in Piano
Performance from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Laurie has
worked as a professional accompanist extensively around the country and
for theatre, concerts and operas throughout Alabama, as well as the fall
2009 state screening auditions for SETC. She is the staff accompanist
for all UM musical theatre classes and musical director for cabaret
performances. This past year Laurie participated in the Goodspeed Opera
House Musical Director’s Intensive where she studied all aspects of
musical direction with current industry professionals. Laurie has also
participated as both student and staff pianist at the American Institute
of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria where she performed in both
classical music concerts as well as musical theater performances.
Laurie has also been the musical director for Theatre Department
productions such as GODSPELL, THE LAST 5 YEARS; HAIR; SIDE BY SIDE BY
SONDHEIM; BABY; PIPPIN, [title of show], numerous musical revues and
cabarets and the upcoming production of RENT. She also teaches the
Musicianship Skills/Theory class in our Musical Theatre curriculum.
