Student Groups and Professional Organizations

Student Alabama Education Association (SAEA) exists for the college student of Alabama interested in the profession of teaching. The membership is composed of students who are receiving basic preparation at the undergraduate level or graduate level for their initial teaching responsibility. Contact: Ms. Tarsha Bluiett

Kappa Delta Pi is an international education honor society which recognizes outstanding scholarship and leadership. The Beta Lambda Chapter at the University of Montevallo was established in 1929. Students must achieve superior scholarship and meet all criteria for the Teacher Education Program to be initiated. Contact: Dr. Jackie Nuby.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.  The student organization (SCEC) at the University of Montevallo engages in activities in the community which supports this mission.  Any teacher candidate interested in working with children with disabilities is eligible to participate.  Contact: Dr. Hollie Cost.
