Alternative Approaches to B Certification

INITIAL B CERTIFICATION

Individuals who hold an undergraduate degree and have never been certified may request an evaluation.  Upon completion of the required coursework, an application for certification must be submitted the State Department of Education through the office of TES.

Evaluation

UM Certification Officer will evaluate transcripts and advise applications, informing them of necessary criteria for certification (TEP admission, internship, exit exam, etc.).

ADDITIONAL B CERTIFICATION [ABC]

Individuals who have been certified and are seeking additional certification at the B level may request an evaluation.  Upon completion of the required coursework an application for certification must be submitted to the State Department of Education through the office of TES.

Provide a copy of the current ABC certificate and all official transcripts.

Evaluation

UM Certification Officer will evaluate transcripts and advise applicants, informing them of necessary criteria for certification (exit exam, etc.).

ALTERNATIVE B CERTIFICATION

Individuals who have never been certified and are being employed must follow all steps through their employing board of education.  UM offers four courses on a space available basis which may only be taken upon submission of verification of employment and 2.50 grade point average in teaching field.  You must provide a copy of the valid ABC certificate and official transcripts before admission is possible. Courses must be completed within three years of employment date.
