All field-based and clinical experiences are recorded and reviewed prior to internship placement. Actual placements vary according to the student's teaching field(s), level, preferences, the feasibility of providing University supervision, and the need to maintain diversity of placement. Placements will be located within a fifty mile radius of the University of Montevallo's campus.
There are alternative placement options that require student application. The University of Montevallo has an agreement with the Cherokee North Carolina schools for student teaching internships. Students must apply for internship in Cherokee at least one semester prior to internship. Applicants must interview with the Dean of the College of Education. Housing arrangements must be formalized by mid-term of the semester preceding the internship. Final placement is subject to the approval of the Dean, the methods instructor(s), and the coordinator of clinical experiences.
