The Alabamian
Purpose:
“The Alabamian” has been the University of Montevallo’s student newspaper since 1924. It is distributed free of charge bi-weekly during the fall and spring semesters. The newspaper covers campus news, reports of coming events, surveys arts and entertainment news and provides a forum for the views of members of the University community. The editor is elected each spring by the Student Publications Committee, made up of UM students, faculty and staff members. The goal of the Alabamian is to present to the students, faculty, staff, alumni, visitors, and townspeople of Montevallo a comprehensive look into the current events in and around the University of Montevallo; to make known the problems and issues affecting the university that may arise; to give the students a place to voice their opinions on these issues; to give aspiring journalists and photographers a publication for developing skills; and above all, to inform.
