Student Life

The Student Retreat

The John W. Stewart Student Retreat is located in back of the campus, hidden in a field of pine trees.  The rustic exterior and interior, with an open fireplace and log-cabin style walls, make this venue feel like you are away from the hustle of College life.

Students and faculty may use this building free of charge if it is for a University related event held by a registered student organization.

The Retreat may be rented to the general public and has been used for wedding receptions, showers, teas, club meetings, and birthday parties.  It will comfortably accommodate about 125 persons, seated, or 200 persons standing.

The rental fee is $350.00 a day (8 a.m. until 2 a.m.).  A refund of $50 may be given after the event if the Retreat is left clean and undamaged.  Alcohol – beer, wine, or champagne ONLY – may be served after arrangements are made for a campus police officer and the payment of a $100 minimum fee.

For convenience, some folding tables and chairs are kept there in a storage closet.  The newly refurbished building has a full kitchen, including a small ice machine, smooth cook-top stove, refrigerator, and several deep-well coolers in the beverage area.  There is also a patio area for use in fine weather.

The Retreat is rented/reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please call Ruth Bishop, 665-6565, for further information or to book a date for your event.
