Bell is a professor of management and finance in the Stephens College of Business at the University of Montevallo. She currently teaches Business and Society, Organizational Behavior, Business Professional Development, and Risk Management and Insurance in the undergraduate program and Civilization, Society and Organizations in the MBA program.
Bell holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia College of Business in risk management and insurance and has served as a tenured professor at Florida State University (1983-93), Washington State University (1993-99) and the University of Montevallo (1999-present). At Washington State, she was the SAFECO Distinguished Professor of Risk Management and Insurance and served as chair of the Department of Finance, Insurance & Real Estate. She first came to the University of Montevallo to serve as dean of the College of Business and then assumed full-time faculty responsibilities in 2002.
Bell is active in scholarly pursuits with several dozen publications on topics including sustainable business strategies, organizational behavior, pedagogical issues, human resource management and risk management and insurance.
During her career, she has won numerous teaching and advising awards and has been listed in Presidential Who’s Who, Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Who’s Who in Finance and Outstanding Women of the 20th Century.
