Jennifer Alexiou-Ray is an assistant professor of secondary education in the College of Education.
She holds a B.S. in secondary education, masters degrees in instructional technology and educational administration, and a doctorate in instructional leadership with an emphasis in technology from the University of Alabama. She has been at the University of Montevallo since 2010, teaching in the areas of elementary, secondary, and special education.
Ray’s research interests include online teaching and learning, one-to-one computing, mobile technologies and interactive, technology-enhanced instruction. She has done research and international conference presentations in the areas of educational and instructional technology including professional development, podcasting and school broadcasting. She is a certified Promethean trainer and has extensive training and experience in online and hybrid teaching and learning.
Before coming to higher education, Ray worked as an instructional technology specialist where she helped implement large-scale technology initiatives and train teachers in technology integration. She continues to work with the Alabama State Department of Education in their eLearning program, which provides free, online professional development to teachers across the state. At the University of Montevallo, Ray teaches courses in instructional technology and secondary teaching methodology.
