Claire Edwards completed her B.S. and M.S. degrees at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and her Ph.D. in speech and hearing science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds the Certificate for Clinical Competence in speech language pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and is a licensed speech language pathologist in the state of Alabama. She joined the faculty at the University of Montevallo in the department of Communicative Sciences & Disorders in 2006. Dr. Edwards has extensive clinical experience in the areas of child-language disorders and speech sound disorders. She currently serves as Assistant Professor, Clinical Supervisor and Graduate Program Coordinator. Dr. Edwards teaches classes in language development/disorders and speech sound disorders at undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research focus is in the areas of language and emergent literacy skills of toddlers and transdisciplinary teaming in the Early Intervention population. Dr. Edwards is the advisor for the Montevallo chapter of NSSHLA and has served as Senator on Faculty Senate representing the Department of Communication Science & Disorders.
