Catherine (Cassie) Raulston is an assistant professor of elementary education in the College of Education. She holds a B.S. in elementary education, an M.A. and Ed.S. degree in special education with an emphasis in gifted education. Her Ph.D. is in instructional leadership with an emphasis in technology from the University of Alabama. She has been at the University of Montevallo since 2012, teaching in the areas of elementary, secondary and special education.
Raulston’s research interests include mobile technologies, gifted learners, professional development multimedia in the classroom and interactive technologies. She has done research and conference presentations at the local and national level in the areas of instructional technology, school broadcasting, podcasting, multimedia in the classroom and WebQuests. She is an ALEX Certification of Excellence (A.C.E.) trainer and has helped design and conduct trainings across the state for the Alabama Learning Exchange.
Before coming to higher education, Raulston worked as a gifted education specialist and an instructional technology specialist where she helped implement large-scale technology initiatives and train teachers in technology integration. At the University of Montevallo, Raulston teaches courses in elementary education and instructional technology.
