Freshman Forum
2013-2014 Freshman Forum Application
FAQ
What is it? Freshman Forum is a group of freshman selected to receive in-depth knowledge of the political body and structure of the University. Members become actively involved with the Student Government Association and learn the necessary tools needed to become well-informed members of the University body upon entering the sophomore year. Members of the forum also plan events for the benefit of their fellow freshman as well as for the University. In the past, events such as a campus wide bar-b-que, a talent show, and a town hall meeting, were all implemented. Being a member of freshman Forum is a great way to get involved and become familiar with the SGA during your first year at Montevallo.
How can I get involved? The members of Freshman Forum are chosen through an application and interview process. The new Freshman Forum applications are available now! Simply fill it out, answer the application questions, attach a high school resume, and photograph and turn it in by the due date on the application. No late applications will be accepted.
What about interviews? If chosen to return for an interview, the advisors will contact you and your name will be posted inside the Student Union Building (SUB). You will need to sign up for an interview time. Interviews are held for two days for your convenience.
How will the members be selected? The selection process consists of an application followed by a possible interview. The application score will be based on the applicant's leadership positions, high school G.P.A., and essay question answers. The Freshman Forum will be comprised of 15 to 20 members.
Still have questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact the Student Life Office at 6565. You can even drop by the SGA offices located at the top of Farmer Hall (SUB) and ask for the SGA President or Freshman Forum Advisor.
