The University of Montevallo's mascot is "Freddie the Falcon." A falcon's offspring is called a fledgling, hence the name of this student handbook, The Fledgling.

The Fledgling is a student publication provided by the Student Government Association and funded primarily by student activity fees. The purpose of this book is to introduce students to the University of Montevallo. All inquiries should be addressed to the address below. The University of Montevallo is an EO/AA/ADA institution.
