The Fledgling - Student Handbook

Why Read the Fledgling

Welcome to the University of Montevallo! The history that surrounds our campus is as well-founded as the brick roads and as diverse as the many opportunities that await you here at UM. One of the many annual duties of the Administrative Vice President is the process of updating the Fledgling. This year, my responsibilities have been made infinitely easier by the hard work and dedication of the 2006-2007 Administrative Vice President Daniel McBrayer. I intend to make sure that the Fledgling remains a “living,” up-to-date document that students can refer to as their guide to the University.

The 2006-2007 SGA Senate passed several important pieces of legislation which affect the SGA Constitution and Code of Laws. I encourage all students to take the time to review them and become familiar with them as the Senate works to better serve the student body. Also in the Fledgling you will find the University Calendar for this year. The Alpha entries are here to answer questions about every facet of life here at UM and have been fully reviewed and updated this year to provide students with the most current information.

As a member of the SGA I am here to serve you, which is why I encourage all students to contact me if they have any comments or suggestions. My office is in the SUB (Student Union Building).
