
Dr. Sanders is currently Assistant Professor of Management in the Stephens College of Business at the University of Montevallo and MBA Program Advisor. He currently teaches organization and management theory, leadership, and human resources management in the undergraduate program and organizational development and strategic management in the MBA program. Prior to his academic career Dr. Sanders served for three decades as an executive in the health care industry - primarily with a large integrated health care delivery system in Alabama that operated multiple hospitals, ambulatory care, long term care, and managed care programs throughout the state. During his tenure he served as a hospital administrator, corporate vice president of shared services, and as Sr. Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, and Chief Administrative Officer. Dr. Sanders has a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB); an MBA from Samford University in Birmingham; and a Ph.D. from UAB with a concentrations in strategic management and health administration and he completed a doctoral major in organizational behavior at the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa). Dr. Sanders’ primary research interests are in the areas of adoption and diffusion of human capital innovations related to strategic management, workforce policy in human resources management, leadership effectiveness, and management history. Dr. Sanders is active in scholarly pursuits with over a score of academic presentations and publications in his first five year in academia and he continues to contribute to management practice by providing consulting and training assistance to non-profit organizations.
