Dr. Mechitov is currently Professor of Management Information Systems in the
Stephens College of Business at the University of Montevallo.
He teaches MIS (Database Management, Business Programming, Management
Information Systems), Quantitative Methods (Statistics and Computerized Data
Analysis), and International Business classes in the undergraduate and MBA
programs. Dr. Mechitov received his bachelor and master degrees from Moscow
State University and his Ph.D. from the Institute for Systems Analysis of the
Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow, Russia). Before
coming to the University of Montevallo in 2001, he worked in Texas A&M
University, East Carolina University, and in The University of West Alabama.
His current research interests include multi-criteria decision analysis,
decision support and expert systems, and data mining. He has co-authored two
books and has published over a hundred refereed papers in journals such as
Decision Sciences, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Expert Systems with Applications,
Decision Support Systems, Journal of International Business and
Economics. Dr. Mechitov is a regular presenter at national and international
conferences and has received several best paper awards and was named the
University Scholar in 2003. He also publishes on business education and was
three times included into Who’s Who Among American Teachers, nominated by his
students.
