Notification of
Directory Information
At its discretion, the University of
Montevallo may provide “directory information” in accordance with the provisions
of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). Directory information is
defined as that information which would not generally be considered harmful or
an invasion of privacy if disclosed. Designated directory information at
the University of Montevallo includes the following:

Student's name
·
Address
·
Telephone numbers
·
E-mail address
·
Major field of study
·
Date of birth
·
Student identification number
·
Participation in officially
recognized activities and sports
·
Weight and height of members of
athletic teams
·
Most recent educational institution
attended
·
Number of current hours in which
the student is enrolled
·
Student enrollment status (i.e.
full or part-time)
·
Degrees and graduation dates
·
Anticipated degrees and graduation
dates
·
Classification (i.e. freshman,
sophomore, etc.)
·
Awards and honors
·
Dates of attendance
Students may block the public disclosure of directory information (all) by
completing the
Request to Prevent Disclosure of Directory Information form and presenting
it and identification to the Registrar's Office. The Registrar's Office is
located in Palmer Hall, second floor.
Students must consider very carefully the consequences of a decision to
withhold directory information. A non-disclosure block will call for the
University of Montevallo not to release all “directory information”, including
inclusion in the online and printed student directory. Thus, any future
requests for such information from non-institutional persons or organizations
will be refused.
The University will honor the
student’s request to withhold directory information but cannot assume
responsibility to contact the student for subsequent permission to release this
information. Regardless of the effect upon the student, the University of
Montevallo assumes no liability as a result of honoring your instructions that
such information by withheld.Although the initial request may
be filed at any time, requests for non-disclosure will be honored by the
University until removed, in writing, by the student.
