References to PMS 267 (purple) and PMS 123 (gold) have been made in the Logotypes/Logos section of this Visual Standards Manual. These two numbers represent the University’s colors of purple and gold. Realizing that there is an infinite range of colors, every attempt should be made to be consistent in all usages. When specifying school colors, use the PMS (Pantone Matching System®) numbers. In some cases, gold-foil stamping of gilt ink may be substituted for the gold PMS number. Of course, there is an infinite range of colors beyond printed medium specifications. When specifying color in other media such as textiles, promotions or signage, every attempt should be made to match the University’'s official PMS colors.
UM school colors on the web are represented by HTML numbers 660099 (purple) and FFCCOO (gold).
