The University’s name is its principal identifier to people throughout the state, region, nation and abroad. The school’s logotype is built around recognition of the name itself. There are a number of accepted references to the University. They are:

• University of Montevallo (preferred)

• The University of Montevallo

• UM

• Montevallo

Unacceptable references include “U of M” and Alabama College. Editorially, UM and Montevallo should be used on second and subsequent references. UM also may be used in stand-alone graphic applications. Sports teams may be referred to as the Falcons/Lady Falcons.
