Mayor Hollie C. Cost, Ph.D Service Learning Coordinator
Hollie Anderson Campbell Cost is a Professor of Special Education and the Service Learning Coordinator at the University of Montevallo. She was elected Mayor of Montevallo in October, 2012. She has been instrumental in linking the university more closely with the community through her leadership efforts in initiatives such as the Montevallo Connection, gifted student field trips, after-school tutoring programs, college access initiatives, Montevallo Sister City Commission, neighborhood revitalization programs and community arts experiences. She joined the university in August of 2000 after serving as an assistant professor of special education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas for two years. Dr. Cost holds a B.A. in psychology, M.Ed. in Special Education and Ph. D. in Special Education from Auburn University. Her special education area of expertise is behavioral disorders. She resides in the City of Montevallo with her husband, Andrew Cost, who is an artist and her two sons, Eli and Campbell.
