Thank you for your interest in our Service Learning and Community Engagement program. The University of Montevallo is firmly dedicated to community outreach and serving others. Our faculty, staff and students are committed to supporting the world in which we live. Community outreach is one means by which we can accomplish this. The information presented is designed to assist you in serving as a community partner or in becoming a community partner. Benefits of Service Learning

 

The utilization of Service Learning as a teaching pedagogy is beneficial for all parties involved including students, faculty and staff members, and community partners.

 

Community Partners benefits include:   

  • increasing the human resources available to provide support to their agency
  • improving public relations between their agency and the community at large
  • gaining fresh ideas and insights from enthusiastic college students
  • providing a potential source of new hiring recruits
  • enabling agencies to provide more services to a larger number of clients

How you can get involved in Service Learning:

  • Become a community partner.
    • By completing our Community Partner Information and Project Request Form, you are opening up your doors to a wealth of new resources including faculty, staff and student support in the form of volunteers and a wealth of knowledge in a variety of fields. We will add your agency information to our database and contact faculty and staff members who can assist you with your agencies specific needs. 
  • Contact us to publicize specific events in which volunteers are needed.
    • The Office of Service Learning and Community Engagement regularly publicizes opportunities for volunteers to assist the community in a variety of different ways.
