Scott Meyer, Art, will be part of a five-artist collaborative team using a crucible image as a unifying creative element for sculpture. The event will take place at Piedmont College in Georgia and, along with Meyer, will feature the work of ceramic artists Richard Hirsch, Virginia Scotchie and Kenneth Baskin, as well as UM sculptor Ted Metz. The purpose of the event is to bring these artists together for studio collaboration. The artists will consider joint participation so that finished pieces might reflect the sensibilities of more than one participant. An exhibition in the gallery and a panel discussion with the artists will offer insight into this rare, ongoing project. The multi-day event, scheduled for Oct. 22-24, has been coordinated by Christopher Kelly, UM B.F.A. graduate and current Piedmont professor of art. A panel discussion on collaborations will take place Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. For more information, go to www.piedmont.edu/art/gallery.html.
