The Office of Student Life will host the second in a three-part fall Leadership Lunch Series, Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 12:15 p.m., in the Montevallo Room of the Anna Irvin Dining Hall. This month’s topic is “Diversity: Mixing it Up — Let’s Get Real About Diversity.” The presenters will be the Rev. Angie Wright and Voncil Thornton from the Leading Edge Institute (www.leadingedgeinst.org). The event is free and open to all UM students, faculty and staff. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.

“Ready to Vote,” a voter education/voter registration workshop, hosted by the Montevallo branch of AAUW, will take place Thursday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m., in Hill House. The workshop will explore strategies to increase voter participation and ways to inform voters about issues of special concern to women and their families. Leaders will address topics such as constitutional reform; equal pay, candidates’ voting records; voter registration; AAUW’s lobby corps and Ready to Run, AAUW’s program to prepare women for public office. Those wishing to register to vote may do so at the event. Workshop presenters include Mary Jo Buff, Elaine Hughes, Judy Rogers, Treasure Ingels Thompson, Carrie Robbins and Laura Morgan.

The University of Montevallo will hold Second World War Remembrance Days Tuesday, Oct. 21, and Wednesday, Oct. 22. The event will consist of two sessions each day. The Second World War Panel Discussion will be presented from 9 a.m.-noon, Oct. 21, and from 2-5 p.m. Oct. 22. The Holocaust Panel Discussion will be presented from 2-5 p.m. Oct. 21, and from 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 22. All sessions will be presented in the Merchants and Planters Bank Auditorium in Comer Hall. Representatives from the U.S. Space and Rocket Center will be on campus Monday, Oct. 27, for the purpose of recruiting space camp counselors. Flu shots, as well as shots for pneumonia, tetanus and measles, will be available Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., in the Main Hall lobby. Shots will cost $5 each and will be administered by the Shelby County Health Department.

During the summer, the old student e-mail system (UMail) was replaced with ForUM e-mail. UMail is still accessible, and will be until Thursday, Oct. 30. However, on Oct. 30, at noon, the UMail system will be decommissioned. Please note that faculty and staff Outlook and Entourage e-mail accounts are unaffected by the termination of UMail.
