UM Woodwind Workshop 2010

The 2011 Woodwind Workshop will take place Friday, November 18 – Saturday, November 19.  All events will be held in the Davis Music Building on the University of Montevallo Campus.  This Workshop is open to all woodwind players (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon) grades 6 – 12.   There will be two separate Woodwind Choirs, one for the younger students (generally grades 6-8) and one for grades 9-12, and separate ensembles for the individual sections, (flute choir, clarinet choir, saxophone choir, double reed ensemble).   For an application, (download an application here).  The application fee is $40 (make checks payable to UM Foundation). Beginners are welcome and will learn much from this workshop. Even if you have only  just begun playing this past fall, please join us.  In addition to our regular schedule of recitals and clinics by professionals, we will be having a solo competition with a first and second place prize (download an application here).  Please note that you must register for the workshop in order to participate in the solo competition and you must have a signature of your private instructor or band director in order to compete.  Please also note there is an extra $25 application fee with the competition.   A complete schedule of events will be available on this site soon.  Ramsay Conference Center is available for on-campus housing as well as a number of hotels in the area.  Please see the application for housing suggestions.
