Degree Programs

The Department of Music offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs:

Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music provides for the study of music within the context of the liberal-arts curriculum.

Bachelor of Music

The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree is offered in the following concentrations:

  • Composition
  • Instrumental Performance (woodwinds, brass, percussion, guitar)
  • Music Education--Choral
  • Music Education--Instrumental
  • Organ Performance
  • Piano Pedagogy
  • Piano Performance
  • Vocal Performance

Master of Education

The Department of Music, in cooperation with the College of Education, offers courses for the Master of Education with a concentration in the field of music and for the program leading to the Alabama Class A P-12 certification in either instrumental or general-choral music.

Minor in Music

The program consists of 21 credit hours distributed among courses in music history, theory, and performance.
