University of Montevallo Junior High and Senior High Honor Band

We
are proud to announce the 2013 University of Montevallo Honor Band Festival,
March 1-3, 2013. The festival will include opportunities to perform standard
and contemporary concert band repertoire. The UM Wind Ensemble will kick off
the weekend with a concert on Friday night, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Palmer
Auditorium. The participants will also have an opportunity to hear UM’s
chamber ensembles and enjoy pizza and jazz Saturday evening with the UM Jazz
Ensemble.

This
year, we are adding a Junior High band. So 9th graders must
declare which group they will be auditioning for.

to the 2013 UM Honor band.

The deadline for recommendation forms is January 18, 2013.* We
reserve the right to invite a limited number to fill the positions
available. Upper class students will have first preference, but we
encourage young talented students to apply as well. Please rank your
students fairly with 1 being the highest. Required musical excerpts will
be taken from the Alabama Senior and Junior High All-State Audition
List. They will be the same as the Shelby County All-County band
requirements listed below. Percussionists should choose the instrument on
which to audition and play the appropriate excerpt. A listing of the 2013
Senior High All-State audition pieces may be found on the AMEA website.
