We
are proud to announce the Sixteenth Annual University of Montevallo Honor
Band Festival, February 29-March 2, 2008. The festival will include
opportunities to perform standard concert band repertoire and some new
pieces as well. The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will kick off the weekend
with a concert on Friday night, February 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Palmer
Auditorium. Additionally, the UM Wind Ensemble will perform its concert on
Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m.

Attached is the recommendation form
for directors’ use only, as well as a tentative schedule. The deadline for
application is February 1, 2008. We reserve the right to invite a limited
number to fill the positions available. Upper class students will have
first preference, but we encourage young talented students to apply as well.
Please rank your students fairly with 1 being the highest. Required musical
excerpts will be exercise No. 1 from the Alabama Senior High All-State
Audition List. Percussionists must choose the instrument on which to
audition and play the appropriate excerpt. A listing of the 2008 Senior
High All-State audition pieces may be found on the AMEA website at
www.alabamamea.org/bandmasters/index.htm.
