We
are proud to announce the Eighteenth Annual University of Montevallo Honor
Band Festival, March 5-7, 2010. The festival will include
opportunities to perform standard concert band repertoire and some new
pieces as well. The UM Wind Ensemble will kick off the weekend
with a concert on Friday night, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Palmer Auditorium.
Attached is the recommendation form
for directors’ use only, as well as a tentative schedule. The deadline for
application is February 12, 2010. We reserve the right to invite a limited
number to fill the positions available. Upper class students will have
first preference, but we encourage young talented students to apply as well.
Please rank your students fairly with 1 being the highest. Required musical
excerpts will be exercise No. 1 from the Alabama Senior High All-State
Audition List. Percussionists must choose the instrument on which to
audition and play the appropriate excerpt. A listing of the 2010 Senior
High All-State audition pieces may be found on the AMEA website at
