Joe Ortiguera
Violinist
Joe Ortiguera has delighted audiences all over with his
unforgettable performances of Philippine music.
As a student at the University of
the Philippines, he performed numerous recitals throughout the
country under the guidance of teachers Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata,
Sergio Esmillia and Arturo Molina.
A versatile musician, Ortiguera’s
musical credits range widely from recently performing... at Carnegie
Hall, making a music video with American country band the Dixie
Chicks to collaborating with the rock band Kansas.
Currently he performs with the
Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and
serves as Assistant Concertmaster in the Tupelo Symphony Orchestra
and Meridian Symphony Orchestra.
As an educator, he has taught at
the University of Minnesota, University of Louisville, University of
Alabama, Alabama State University and currently at the University of
Montevallo.
Originally from Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, Joe Ortiguera attended the University of Minnesota
earning a Bachelor of Music –Cum Laude and Master of Education
degree. He also earned a Master of Music from the University of
Louisville and is completing his Doctorate at The University of
Alabama. His teachers included Eriks Klavins, Young-Nam Kim, J.
Patrick Rafferty, Peter Rovit, Jubal Fulks and Jenny Gregoire.
