Lauren Morgan is Director, Community School of Music at the
University of Montevallo. She received her Bachelor of Arts in
Music from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston,
Louisiana in 2006. At Louisiana Tech she was selected for the John Simoneaux
Memorial Scholarship four years in a row and received the
distinction of “Student of the Year” in the Department of Music
in 2006. She attended the Hartt International Guitar Festival in
Hartford Connecticut for three years in a row and performed in
master classes for Richard Provost, David Tannenbaum and William
Kanengiser.
Upon graduation from Louisiana Tech
University, she ran her own music business in north Louisiana
for many years, teaching over 40 students a week. She was also
the classical guitar and class guitar instructor for Bossier
Parish Community College in Bossier City, Louisiana. Ms. Morgan
directed the “Absolute Beginner Guitar” summer camps for
children in partnership with the Ruston Louisiana Parks and
Recreation Department and has worked the past two summers as the
guitar instructor for the Young Musicians’ Camp at the
University of Montevallo.
For the past two years Ms. Morgan has been
researching and writing a guitar method book for young
guitarists in order to help them develop proper technique, count
rhythms more easily, and read music at an early age. Lauren also
regularly performs classical guitar music for weddings,
receptions and parties in Alabama. She is currently working on
her MBA at the University of Montevallo where she enjoys mixing
music with business! She lives in Montevallo with her husband
and enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and gardening. |
