Montevallo's Department of Music. She earned a Bachelor of Music
degree in horn performance from the University of Montevallo,
graduating with highest honors. Ms. McEntee continued her horn

the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera orchestra. In 1986 she moved
to San Antonio, Texas, where she was Business Manager of RBC
Music Company and a member of the San Antonio Municipal Band.
Julie returned to her hometown of Montevallo in the summer of
1995 and was thrilled when an opportunity to work in the music
office occurred. In 1999 Ms. McEntee was honored by being named
the first recipient of the University of Montevallo National
Alumni Association's Outstanding Staff Award. A few years later
she was again honored to receive the Office Support Personnel’s
Award for Excellence for 2003-2004.

community and is a strong supporter of the arts. She is on the
board of directors of the Montevallo Arts Council where she

She is a founding member of the Montevallo Community Band, and
serves as French horn section leader and as a board member of
that group.
Still an active musician, Ms.
McEntee enjoys playing her horn both professionally and with
amateur groups. She is a member of the musicians' union, Local
256-733 and occasionally substitutes with the Alabama Symphony
Orchestra. She performs regularly with the Red Mountain Chamber
Orchestra in the position of second horn. She has also performed

Summerfest Musical Theatre, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival,
the Montgomery Symphony, and in many area churches. She has been
an orchestra member for many of the music department's musicals
and opera productions, and several times has accompanied one of
the choirs. She is often asked to participate in student
ensembles such as Brass Ensemble and Horn Ensemble. She
currently studies horn with David Pandolfi, principal horn of
the Alabama Symphony and instructor of horn at UM, and she has
been on staff as a horn teacher with the UM Community School of
Music for a number of years.
In addition to music, Julie also
enjoys reading, hiking, camping, gardening, yoga, and working
Sudoku puzzles. She lives in Montevallo, has two grown children,
three cats and one dog. |
