FIRST PLACE HONORS for Best Magazine in the Best in the South Competition.

Students who wrote articles for last year’s Journal included Kimberly Couch, Bruce Finklea, Greg Funderburg, Alisha Gustin, Amy Hicks, Portia Mason, Melissa Oyer, Joel Paris, Brian Parker, Lori Pickett, Brian Smith, Cambria Smith, Quinn White and Karen Williams.  Students who did layout for last year’s Journal were Sarah Andrews, Kristen Bartlett, Andy Brown, Meredith Johnson, Michael Mee, Terra Moody, and Lori Pickett.

first place honors in radio news anchoring.

third place in onsite photography.

third place in the television anchoring competition.

Congratulations to all students from UM who participated in the conference — Morgan Bell, Miller Boxx, Rachel Carroll, Bruce Finklea, Laura Mason, Timeca McCoy, Briana McReynolds, Leah Miller, Jessica Montana, Haley Leigh Phillips, Nathan Pocus, Tiffany Westry and Kalyn Wolfe.  

UM students competed with students from colleges throughout the Southeast, including the University of Alabama, Auburn University, Arkansas State University, Samford University, Vanderbilt University, Mississippi State, University of Mississippi, University of Southern Mississippi, Austin Pea University, Loyola University, Louisiana Tech University, Nicholls State University, Belmont University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Memphis, University of West Florida, University of Tennessee/Martin, and many others.
