Stacey Balaam, a native of Suffolk, England, completed her fourth and final season of competition during the fall 2008 semester. Balaam was one of two UM women’s soccer players to be named to the third team of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Third Team. This was the second straight selection to this team for Balaam. Earlier in the season Balaam was named to the Daktronics All-America Teams and the Daktronics First Team All-Region. Balaam ended her collegiate career with the Falcons ranking among the All-Time leaders in the Gulf South Conference in assists in a career (50) and points in a career (100). 2007 . . . Competed and started in 22 matches . . . named Second Team Daktronics All-American, First Team Daktronics All-South Region and Region Player of the Year . . . named Second NSCAA/adidas All-South Region . . . Named First Team All-Gulf South Conference . . . led team in scoring . . . led team (third consecutive season) and finished second in the nation in assists per game . . . also finished tied for 22nd in the nation in points per match . . . four game-winning goals . . . perfect 7-for-7 in penalty kick opportunities including game-winning goal against Saint Leo at NCAA Tournament. 2006 . . . Competed and started in 13 matches . . . named First Team All-Gulf South Conference . . . led the team in scoring . . . scored three goals and led the team in assists with six. 2005 . . . made an immediate impact as a freshman, leading the team and tied for the conference lead in assists with 11 . . . named to the Second Team All-GSC . . . finished second on the team in points, and collected four assists in a victory over Christian Brothers . . . one of three players to compete and start in all 18 matches. Personal . . . native of Suffolk, England . . . prepped at West Suffolk College, competing for coach Mark Lawrence . . . part of team that were British College Winners, Regional Colleges Winners and won the PFA/adidas Five-A-Side Tournament . . . also competed for the Ipswich Town Club, a runner up in the National Southern Division . . . has an older brother, James, and a younger sister, Tina . . . majored in kinesiology major at UM . . . daughter of Peter and Christine Balaam.
