Resource and Activity Books

Resource and activity books are located on the first floor of the Malone Curriculum Center.  Because of high demand, they are restricted to in-center use only. 

Resource/Activity books are shelved in Dewey Decimal order.  The call numbers begin with "RB" and include the DD number, publisher, and subject abbreviation.  They also have a yellow sticker on the call number label.   Call number RB 372.3 Hou Sci would be a science resource or activity book published by Houghton Mifflin.  Each subject is shelved alphabetically by publisher.

Subject Specific Children’s Literature

Subject specific children’s literature books are shelved in front of the resource/activity books for that subject.  For example, The Magic School Bus Explores the Human Body would be shelved with the science resource books. 

Call numbers include the type of book (easy, fiction, juvenile), the first three initials of the author’s last name for easy and fiction books and the Dewey Decimal number for juvenile books.  It will also include the abbreviation for the subject area (Sci, SS, Math, Multic, SpEd, etc).   Call number E Woo Sci would be an easy book by Audrey Wood shelved with the science resources.
