Assistive Technology/SMART Cart.

The SMART (Supportive Manipulative and Assistive Resources in Technology) Cart is now available in the Curriculum Center.    The cart contains a laptop with various software programs and a large variety of assistive technology and manipulative resources appropriate for use with students with special needs.  All resources on the cart are categorized by student need and technology level. 

The SMART Cart is available for faculty to demonstrate the technology and teaching methods in their classes.  Students may check out the resources for class presentations and to use in a school setting.  A few of the available resources are listed below.

Software:  Virtual Pencil, ZoomText Magnifier, Writing with Symbols, Boardmaker, Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking, ReadPlease, Kidspiration, Clicker 4, and Write:Outloud.

Equipment:  Reading Pen, Start-to-Finish books (includes book, cassette tape and CD), The Writer, Coin-U-Lator, HipTalk, Talking Photo Album, Money Calc, IntelliKeys Keyboard, Talking Calculator, TDD Telephone, TimePad, StepPad, Electronic Dictionary and Spanish/English Talking Dictionary.
