How Do I...

Faculty Services

Circulation

Present your University ID card or driver’s license to check out materials.  Most materials are due at the end of the semester, but some items have a more limited loan period.  All materials may be renewed by calling the library or by returning your overdue notice with the items to be renewed clearly marked.

Information Literacy Instruction

We encourage professors to bring their classes in for an instruction session if the class is going to be working on a research assignment.  To arrange a class, complete the Library Instruction request form.

Interlibrary Loan

If an item is owned by another Alabama library, we can usually get it for you within a week and at no cost.  See the Interlibrary Loan page for more information.

Remote Access to Databases

Most of our electronic databases can be accessed from off-campus by typing in your University ID number.  If you have difficulty, please let us know.

Reserves

Faculty may place additional readings, sample tests, and other materials on electronic reserve using the library’s ERes system.  Items not suitable for electronic reserve can be placed on reserve at the library’s circulation desk.

Collection Development

Faculty are encouraged to request library materials needed to support their classes.  The library allocates the materials budget to each teaching area for this purpose.
