How Do I...
How do I Find a journal in the library?
When you already know the
journal title, the quickest way to find
it is by searching the
Library Catalog.
Using the
Journal Title Keyword search,
enter your journal title and
press the
button.
Your search box should look
like the dummy box below:
The catalog will identify the years and volumes owned by the library in all print formats:
| Location: | Carmichael Library | |||
| Collection: | Microfiche | |||
| Status: | Currently Received | |||
| Media Type: | Fiche | |||
| Main run: |
|
|||
Unbound, microfiche, and microfilm volumes are located on the Main Floor, while bound volumes can be found on the Ground Floor. All volumes are arranged alphabetically.
In addition, the catalog will provide links (URLs) to databases for those titles which have online full text:
Full text available from Academic Search Premier: 01/01/1985 to present http://ezproxy.montevallo.edu:2048 . . .
Keep in mind that some volumes may be off of the shelf and in use by another patron or at the bindery.
There are several ways to find journals in your subject area. First, you can always use the catalog. A subject search may be used to find titles of interest. Also, the journal finder, allows you to search all of our print and electronic journals by subject. Finally, our research guides contain lists of relevant titles.
Check at the Ask Here desk if you have difficulty finding your journal title.
