Intel® Teach to the Future Curriculum Overview

40 hours For a curriculum overview click on the "Intel" graphic.  This will take you to the Intel site.
Technology in Motion 2 1/2- 3days

(substitutes are need for participants)

Special scheduling arrangements can be made to share substitutes for several grade levels.

  • Windows tutorial
  • Creating and deleting documents and files
  • Using drawing tools in Word
  • Basic Internet Navigation
  • Successful searching
  • Using ALEX, the Alabama Learning Exchange to develop lessons
  • Using Excel to create a database and manipulate information
  • Work on individual PowerPoint presentations.
Delightfully Digital
21/2 - 3 hours Learn about digital photography then explore the Sony Mavica camera.  After a photo scavenger hunt, learn how to place pictures into software on your computer. Numerous ideas for integration will be presented and discussed.
Photo Story 3 for Windows XP
2 1/2 - 3 hours Create slideshows using your digital photos. With a single click, you can touch-up, crop, or rotate pictures. It's that easy!  Add stunning special effects, soundtracks, and your own voice narration to your photo stories. Then, personalize them with titles and captions.  Small file sizes make it easy to send your photo stories in an e-mail. Watch them on your TV, a computer, or a Windows Mobile–based portable device.
Windows Movie Maker II
2 1/2 - 3 hours Learn to navigate Windows Movie Maker II software and create amazing videos using existing video footage and/or still pictures. Participants will learn how to add titles and transitions as well as many other "tricks".  You must have Windows XP to use this version of Movie Maker.

i-Safe Education and Educators
Creating a Safer Cyberspace
3 hours
i-Safe professional development trains educators to administer lessons on Internet safety.  The curriculum focuses on teaching youth to use the Internet confidently and responsibly. 
1 1/2 hours Kidspiration® helps students K-5 see, organize, and develop their great ideas. Using the proven principles of visual learning, young readers and writers build confidence in organizing information, understanding concepts, and expressing their thoughts.

K-5 students use Kidspiration to:

  • Brainstorm ideas with pictures and words
  • Organize and categorize information visually
  • Create stories and descriptions using engaging visual tools
  • Explore new ideas with thought webs and visual mapping
1 1/2 hours

Inspiration's integrated diagramming and outlining environments work together to help students comprehend concepts and information. Educators use Inspiration to customize instruction, achieve standards, assess student progress, and energize learning.

Use Inspiration across the curriculum for:

Brainstorming
Webbing
Diagramming
Planning
Critical thinking
Concept mapping
Organizing
Outlining

Webpage Do's and Don'ts 1 hour Appropriate formatting of a webpage may determine it's effectiveness.  During this lecture style class, learn the proper way(s) to design a webpage.

  • Learn the basics of creating an attractive slide presentation
  • Utilizing templates in PowerPoint
  • Insert text and graphics
  • Add animation to text and graphics
PowerPoint II 2-3 hours

 

  • Grab attention with sounds
  • Builds on PowerPoint 1
  • Insert hyperlinks and video
  • Record narration
  • How to publish slide shows to the web
PowerPoint III 2-3 hours This is for the intermediate to advanced PowerPoint users.
(not for beginners)

Learn how to create games like Jeopardy and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" using PowerPoint.  It's not as linear as you think!

The Alabama Learning Exchange provides online access to Courses of Study aligned with Marco Polo Lessons.
Posting Lesson Plans to 1 hour Bring your favorite lesson plan with you and learn how to post it to ALEX during this workshop.  You might get "published" and have other teachers across Alabama see your name on the web!
