UNIVERSITY OF MONTEVALLO (AMSTI-UM)

Letter of Intent for AMSTI-UM Only

The Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) is a state funded program that provides professional development, materials, and on-site support to teachers of AMSTI schools.  One of the requirements to become an AMSTI school is the commitment of 80% of the teachers to attend professional development for two weeks during AMSTI Summer Institute for two summers.  The success of the AMSTI program depends on the teachers receiving the professional development that is provided to its schools.

As some teachers are not hired or transferred until after Summer Institute, AMSTI has agreed to provide training for those teachers who did not have the opportunity to attend summer institute.  The training that is received during the school year is content specific, and due to time constraints, cannot provide the pedagogical background that is gained from attending a summer institute.  Therefore, it is a requirement that teachers agree in writing to attend summer institute during the next summer and receive training.  Summer Institute for UM will be (TBA) 2009.

Please check the box that applies to your situation:

I agree to attend AMSTI-UM Summer Institute, (TBA) 2009.

I have attended AMSTI Summer Institute for two summers, but I am changing my grade level, therefore attendance at Summer Institute 2009 will not be required.
