Tutwiler Hall

Tutwiler has a restored baby-grand piano, the focal point in one of the two large social rooms.

Each residential room has a convenient sink and features beautiful hardwood parquet flooring.

Tutwiler offers its residents a large sundeck with wrought iron furniture. Because it is a popular

hall for returning residents, there are usually not many spaces to assign to new residents.

Tutwiler is home to upperclassmen women and the women of Phi Mu.

Affectionately called "Tut" by most UM students, it once housed only senior women.

Today, it accommodates approximately 110 upperclassmen women.  It was constructed in 1927

and dedicated to Julia Tutwiler, a pioneer in women’s higher education in Alabama.

Tutwiler's Parlors and Lobby have been equipped with new common area furniture during the

Spring of 2009.
