Students who wish to be admitted to the Honors Program must first apply for regular admission to the University of Montevallo. Apply online to the University of Montevallo
Entering Freshmen: Entering freshmen are invited into the program if their ACT score is a 27 or higher. These students can then enroll in the Honors Sections of Freshman courses, including History 103/104, English 103/104, Philosophy 111 and Communication Studies 102.
Entering Freshmen who do not have a 27 ACT score may still apply to the program. These students are asked to submit 2 letters of recommendation from high school faculty and a personal statement letter. The Director of the Honors Program and the Honors Advisory Committee will then evaluate any recommendations and decide if acceptance is warranted.
Current UM Students: After completing at least one semester's coursework at the University, students with a 3.2 GPA or higher may apply for acceptance in the Honors Program by supplying a letter of recommendation from a UM faculty member and a personal statement letter. The Director of the Honors Program and the Honors Board will then evaluate any recommendations and decide if acceptance is warranted.
Transfer Students: Students transferring from another university who wish to be part of the UM Honors Program should contact the Director to discuss options in more detail.
All letters should be submitted to the Honors Program Director.
