Since its founding in Syracuse, New York in 1904, Alpha Gamma Delta has grown to be a well renowned sorority with over 181 chapters internationally. This year the Gamma Upsilon chapter here at Montevallo celebrates 35 years on campus by continuing its reputation for excellence and diversity.
We are a sisterhood dedicated to scholarship, individuality, leadership, and philanthropy. Over 40% of our sisters came to the UM on scholarships including Freshman Leadership Scholarships, Dean's Scholarships, and Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships. Alpha Gams' academic achievements are recognized through various honors and memberships in : Order of Omega, Golden Key, ODK, Montevallo Masters, SGA, Orientation Leaders, and Student Senators. Alpha Gams also participate in Campus Outreach, Amnesty International, Montage staff, Alabamian staff, SAAM, golf, tennis, basketball, Miss Montevallo, Cheerleading, Dance Line, and College Night.
Alpha Gam hosts various fundraisers each year for our philanthropy. In addition, we participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk. We have also been fortunate enough to win intramurals for 8 consecutive years and Greek Week for 9 consecutive years. The most cherished aspect of Alpha Gamma Delta is our sisterhood...our formals, date parties, and mixers too!!! We live it up and so can you with our chapter's song: "Brown-eyed Girl". Alpha Gam days will live long past graduation.
