The first phase of the Carmichael Library Learning Commons project is underway with renovations in progress on the ground floor of the library. The University is constructing a new entrance to Carmichael that will provide our students with a direct library access from the parking lot. In addition, the University is building an inviting outdoor patio off the ground floor that will provide students a place to study and socialize. The University’s archives have been relocated to a larger, renovated space on the ground level. University staff are also planning for the renovation of the main level of the library to accommodate a collaborative learning center.
Once completed, the Carmichael Library Learning Commons project will provide a truly student-centered learning space that emphasizes collaborative and individual study, academic support services, and traditional and innovative library resources and services, including emerging technologies, in support of the University’s mission. The generosity of members of the Montevallo family have allowed for our progress thus far. You too can be a part of this exciting renovation project by making a contribution to the University of Montevallo Foundation.
