 "Montevallo in Paris"

In the center of the magnificent Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris, the Colegio de España de Paris, offers quality accommodations for doctors, professors, researchers, musicians, and artists who must stay in Paris for work, study, or research activities, providing a high quality multicultural and multidisciplinary experience to its residents. During the month of July 2012, for the first time, the Colegio de España has agreed to receive a program from the University of Montevallo wishing to teach an immersion course in the French language.

What is included

  • Roundtrip airline ticket, Birmingham-Roissy-Charles de Gaulle*.
  • Transportation from and to airport in Paris
  • Room and three daily meals at the Colegio de España de París
  • Tuition for 6 undergraduate credits
  • Entrance to museums and activities around Paris

 

What is not included

  • Passport application fees
  • Optional excursions
  • Personal expenses.

Classes

 

TOTAL COST: 5,500.00 DOLLARS FOR SIX HOURS OF CREDIT

FRN 250 – Intermediate Accelerated French. 6 hours of credit.

Classes are held daily, Monday through Friday. Classes will meet from 9 am to 1:20 pm with a 20 minute coffee break. All classes are conducted in accordance with the American system of teaching. Lectures for all courses will be in French unless otherwise stated. Class attendance is compulsory. Students must be in good standing and have completed at least the FRN101-102 level, or FRN150, the equivalent in BACHE institutions OR placement into the 200 level.

 

TOTAL COST: 4,900.00 DOLLARS FOR THREE HOURS OF CREDIT.

FRN 300 – Directed Independent Study.  The Forgotten Heroes: The Spaniards of the French Resistance. 3 hours of credit.  Class will meet for two hours every Friday afternoon. Students must be in good standing and have completed at least the FRN202 LEVEL, the equivalent in BACHE institutions OR placement into the 300 level.

 

Financial Aid

If the student is eligible, all financial aid arrangements in the University of Montevallo continue in France.  Also, remember that you may be able to save some money by canceling your automobile insurance while you are away.

Passport

If you do not currently have a passport that will remain valid for at least six months after your return, you should begin the process of obtaining one as soon as possible. You can now do this at several post offices in the Birmingham area, including Pelham.
