On the slope of the Guadarrama mountains, close to Madrid (25 miles) and
within part of the historical monument known as the Royal Monastery of Saint
Laurence, the Real Centro Universitario Maria Cristina offers degrees in Law,
Business Administration and Management, and provides facilities for foreign
programs wishing to teach an immersion course in the Spanish language.

What is included
- Roundtrip airline ticket, Birmingham-Madrid.
- Tuition for 6 undergraduate UM credits.
- Lodging and 3 daily meals at the Real Centro Universitario Maria
Cristina.
- 4 Excursions: One on site to the Monastery of El Escorial and the cities
of Madrid, Segovia, and Toledo.
- Entrance to museums.
- Not included: Passport application fees, life insurance, medical
insurance, and personal expenses.

Class
SPN 250 Intermediate Accelerated Spanish.

Classes are held daily, Monday through Friday.

The class meets from 9:00 to 1:00. All classes
are conducted in accordance with the American system of teaching. Lectures
for all courses are in Spanish unless otherwise stated.

Class attendance is compulsory.
Eligibility
Students must be in good standing and have completed
at least the SPN 101-102 level, or SPN 150 (formerly SPN100) or the equivalent
in BACHE institutions).
Financial Aid
If
the student is eligible, all financial aid arrangements in the University of
Montevallo continue in Spain. Also,
remember that you may be able to save some money by canceling your automobile
insurance while you are away.

Passport
If
you do not currently have a passport that will remain valid for at least six
months after your return, you should begin the process of obtaining one as soon
as you are selected, since it can sometimes take six weeks or more. You can now
do this at several post offices in the Birmingham area, including Pelham.
