The Jensen Award is given to honor a foreign language student who demonstrates exceptional skill in conversing in a second language taught in the Department of Foreign Languages.  Competition is open to students who are enrolled in foreign language courses at the 300 level or above at the University of Montevallo, but not to native or near-native speakers of that language.  Students competing for the Jensen Award must be currently enrolled at the University of Montevallo.

Category 1       Student should have already received 12 or more credit hours of SPN 300 or above.

                        OR

Student has immediate family members who speak Spanish.

Category 2       Student should have taken 9 or fewer credit hours of SPN 300.

                                                AND

Student does not have any immediate family member who speaks Spanish.
