Outside Scholarships are scholarships where the University of Montevallo does not provide funding and is not involved in the application or recipient selection process. Students are encouraged to pursue as many Outside Scholarship opportunities as possible. Although UM does not limit Outside Scholarships by number or amount, scholarships received may affect the amount of federal financial aid for which students are eligible to receive. Students receiving funds from outside sources must report the source and amount to the Office of Student Financial Services.
The University of Montevallo does not recommend that you pay for any information on scholarships, as most scholarship information is provided free of charge.

Alabama CollegeCounts Scholarship- on behalf of the CollegeCounts Board of Directors, Alabama State Treasurer Young Boozer is introducing the CollegeCounts Scholarship Awards of $4,000 for four-year colleges and $2,000 for two-year colleges. Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible: a high school senior or first-time college freshman beginning in fall 2013, a U.S. citizen and Alabama resident, enrolled or planning to enroll in an Alabama eligible educational institution, a minimum GPA of 2.75, an ACT score of 26 or below (applicants attending a two-year school will not be required to submit ACT scores), and demonstrate financial need. Alfred B. Davis Sr., Memorial Scholarship - scholarships were established by Patricia D. Garrett in memory of her father who was an active member of the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association for more than seventy years. The scholarships will be awarded to three African American full time native-born Mobile County students. Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university in the U.S. and class status of sophomore or junior as of fall semester 2012. Awards may be used for cost of books, fees, and/or tuition only. Gail Hurst Scholarship: Parents and Children Together (PACT) is accepting applications for the Gail Hurst Scholarship established in honor of PACT’s founder.Eligible recipient must be: A Morgan County, AL resident (permanent residency, not school residency); junior or higher at an accredited college or university (may include graduate students) enrolled in a human service major (social work, education, Counseling, political science, etc.) Eligible recipient must provide: A copy of student’s transcript to prove good standing with the school, and a 200 word essay describing how student would incorporate or apply information regarding child abuse prevention in their professional pursuits. Leon Bradley Scholarship: The Leon Bradley Scholarship Program is established to encourage more minorities or persons of color to enter the teaching profession. AASPA believes that it is of benefit for all students to experience diversity among the teachers who serve as role models for our students. Thus, the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) will annually award two scholarships to assist a minority college student seeking their initial teaching certification and/or endorsement. One scholarship will be for $2000 granted for the student's final year, which includes student teaching. The second scholarship will be for $1000 granted for a minority paraprofessional career-changer in his/her final year of teacher preparation. Linly Heflin Unit Scholarship: Scholarships are restricted to Alabama women who are U.S. citizens. Scholarship recipients must attend a four year Alabama college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. A minimum ACT score of 23 is required. Varsity Tutors Monthly Scholarship: Varsity Tutors offers a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest to students who write the best essay in response to a monthly prompt. The top five entries with the most votes will be reviewed by Varsity Tutors and one winner will be chosen who will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. WyzAnt College Scholarship: $6,000 in scholarships are currently available for three deserving students. Please submit your application to http://www.wyzant.com/Scholarships/ by May 1, 2011. Each applicant will be required to write an essay in English of no more than 300 words answering the question: "Who has been most important tutor, teacher or coach in my life and why?" The essay must be the sole original work of the applicant and there may be only one entry per applicant.
